A hamper to remember...
Published on Tuesday 28th November 2006

There are some people for whom buying a Christmas present is virtually impossible. They're either one of those people who just buy what they want as and when they want it (ie.men) or they're just so d*mn fussy that you daren't buy them anything for fear of getting it wrong.

Hampers are the ideal solution for both of the above as well as for colleagues and clients - a present you can give without causing offence or coming across too personal. For the finest in Christmas hampers, visit Fortnum & Mason . This delightful store has been part of our heritage since 1707 and they sell some of the most luxurious hampers available to buy online.

Whilst their hampers go up to a whopping £5000 (!!!), there's something for all budgets with their entry price for The Hampette and The Christmas Coupe being at just £30. Called so due to their mini size, they contain just a small selection of items each (such as biscuits, jams and tea) and are a really dinky gift.

There's something for everyone at Fortnum's . For men who like the finer things in life, The Entente Cordiale (£100) contains delicious fine cheeses such as Stilton, mature cheddar and Trelawny and fine wines such as Pouilly Fume and Chatelain 2005. If he fancies himself as a bit of a sommelier then the possibilities are endless. The Vintner Hamper (£150) is packed with Fortnum's favourites and is bound to impress.

For her, there are a wealth of options but my favourites are The Taste of Fortnum's Hamper (£50) - a perfect introduction to the store's delectable food hall, The Christmas Feast Hamper (£500) containing the perfect fare for a traditional Christmas table or The Weekend Hamper (£75), a spoiling, thoughtful and personal gift.

There's even a Children's Hamper (£40) that's packed full of exciting sweeties and lollies. Just make sure you send a cheque for the dentist bill too! For the chocolate lover there's The Chocolate Cornucopia Box (£80) - just please don't waste the truffles and the Italian chocolate sauce on children!

At the moment, when you spend over £200 online you're entitled to £20 off your next purchase, ideal to treat yourself after a round of present buying!
