Lynda's Blog

Lynda loves running her interior design business, L Interiors , mostly because she has such wonderful clients (most of which become friends) and partly because it takes her abroad to wonderful places.

Lynda lives in the country – although as she much as she loves it, she’s an ex Notting Hill girlie and couldn’t do it 24/7! Her favourite online stores are GlamOnWeb.com (La Perla), JimmyChoo.com, Hush-UK.com and bbr.com (Berry Bros) because they supply her with the most delicious champagne!

Add a Splash of Colour...
Published on Thursday 12th April 2007

Just back from a well earned rest in Marrakech. It was my fourth visit and I still love it. Where else can you fly in just three hours and be so far removed from our culture. It’s always an inspiration , the smells, the colours……

Whilst I was there I revisited Essouira, directly west of Marrakech , two hours across the desert and on the coast. It really is very special and I have a feeling it’s about to become incredibly trendy! A scene to be witnessed is when the local women appear early evening to sit on the sea wall wearing the most vibrant clothing in turquoise, raspberry, yellow, orange… the blocks of alternate colour look fairly stunning against the landscape.

designers guild lynda blogI returned home and instantly felt the need to inject colour into my otherwise fairly neutral interior. The easiest and most instant is by way of flowers, so off I went to my favorite stall on the Fulham Road and loaded up with a huge bunch of clashing pink, orange and red roses. My next stop, the Kings Road and into Designers Guild to pick out fabrics for my summer cushions. I chose embroidered silks in colours similar to those of the roses I had picked out to lift my neutral scheme - and lift my spirits now that I was back in the UK !

The majority of us are long overdue a blast of colour in our homes and Designers Guild has always been at the forefront of colour, they use it so cleverly and I’m a huge fan , well I would be…that’s where I started my career in interiors!

Just remember as I said before, it’s the small changes we make in our homes seasonally that make all the difference, so , get out there be bold and indulge in some colour!
