Lynda's Blog

Lynda loves running her interior design business, L Interiors , mostly because she has such wonderful clients (most of which become friends) and partly because it takes her abroad to wonderful places.

Lynda lives in the country – although as she much as she loves it, she’s an ex Notting Hill girlie and couldn’t do it 24/7! Her favourite online stores are GlamOnWeb.com (La Perla), JimmyChoo.com, Hush-UK.com and bbr.com (Berry Bros) because they supply her with the most delicious champagne!

Add Spring Touches To Your Home...
Published on Monday 26th March 2007

Last week I attended the launch of the new Ralph Lauren interior collections in Bond Street. The event was, as always, absolutely superb with Absolute Taste providing the most delicious catering and keeping me happy by keeping my glass topped up with champagne...

But back to why I was there – the collections, and new to Ralph Lauren this season is the Garden collection, a fabulous collection featuring beautifully crafted gardening tools and accessories. Definitely deserves a look.

Interior wise Hither Hills is the story of the season and makes a visit to the Bond Street showroom well worth it. It has a very relaxed vintage style that’s created using faded denim, tickings, floral and paisley cottons . As you’d imagine, it was all beautifully accessorized with various props, - my favourite are the framed photographs that hang on the wall - even if they carry rather an expensive price tag!

white co white waffle lynda blogNow that we’re moving into Spring, it’s time to make small changes to the house to change the feel and focus from winter to summer. They don’t need to be expensive changes mind, just small details. In my bedroom off comes my fur throw and on goes my White Company white waffle . Likewise, for a cool summer vibe, I change the bed cushions from wool to linen.

I would never suggest my clients have winter and summer curtains, but I do suggest that in the living area, your velvet or thick wintery cushion covers are replaced with linen, and if you’ve got loose covers on your sofas I’d suggest you change them also. You just want to create a look that is light and airy and often a large glass vase of spring flowers is simple enough to complete the scene.

Interiors can and should be sensual. To change the mood of a room, it may just be one storm lantern with a flickering candle, the smell of fresh flowers or the tactile feeling of good fabrics surrounding you. We really don’t need to go to great expense to create ‘feel good’ luxuries for ourselves.
