All That Glitters...
Published on Friday 6th June 2008
My adventures in luxury green living endured a fair few hiccups when it came to my all time favourite indulgence/pick-me-up/make-my-eyes-shine/prove-to-me-you-love-me item: jewellery.
Yep, much before ‘Blood Diamond’ made us eye our bling suspiciously, I knew there were ‘bad’ diamonds out there (we ethical luxuristas sort of have to be up to speed on such things) but I was in denial. That movie woke me up. It also woke me up to how much I would miss not procuring beautiful jewels from time to time.
But that was then. I now can indulge to my heart’s content when it comes to adornment.
For semi-precious, very pretty jewellery that doesn’t require capital intervention from The Good Doctor (allow me to introduce the father of my children and my other half; herewith TGD), Moonrise jewellery is my top choice – Liz and Meredith do a fantastic job of creating chic and very wearable pieces that never to fail to add a certain je ne sais quoi to any outfit.
But perhaps the most pressing issue in serious, luxury jewellery shopping today is, yes you guessed it, diamonds.
So can you ever be safe, especially if you want the big stuff? Well, I have to be honest and say I can’t (yet) answer yes to that question but am researching furiously before my 10th wedding anniversary early next year!
Meanwhile, though, it is possible to get really serious stuff for really serious occasions at Cred. Their bespoke service will be able to guide you to the best (and biggest, if needs be) that’s out there in top end ethical jewellery.
