More Days In St Tropez... Published on Friday 20th June 2008
I’m just back from St Tropez and won’t lie this time, it was mainly pleasure as I have only to do the last two rooms in this project that I’ve successfully managed to string out over the last three years!
As ever it’s always an inspiration to visit (call it research!), particularly early in the season when you can park with ease in Place des Lices and wander around the many gorgeous shops.
If you’re down there at all this summer, make sure you visit the market that’s on each Thursday and Saturday – well worth getting up early for as it gets really packed. You really can find some beautiful things as well as all the tempting foods to be found (and tasted on your way round!).
Naturally I’m drawn towards the interior shops. I’m always on the lookout for future trends although not a great deal changes with the Provencal style.
I had my annual look in Hermes at the most divine well... everything ! I went in for a new watch strap and came out with a new enamel bracelet (for my ever expanding collection) and a gorgeous silk scarf . The Euro’s only going to get more expensive so thought I might as well!
Home again, credit card well and truly burned and my Ottolenghi cook book was waiting for me. Full of wonderful photography, it’s a must for all foodies.
The restaurant, deli and bakery opened in 2002, just a small place in Notting Hill it has grown from there.
The two guys who run it, Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi, were persuaded by their customers to write the cook book which has just launched (hence my excitement).
Don’t be frightened by the thought of complicated recipes, not so, it’s very simplified with great ingredients… Do go and buy it, if only for the great pictures!
