BBQs, Rosé & Fun In The Sun... Published on Wednesday 14th May 2008
Dare I say it... has the British summer arrived!
We had the most blissful weekend just doing not a lot but lazing by my neighbour’s pool drinking rosé wine from my recent delivery from Berry Bros. If only every weekend could be like the last.
I was trying out recipes from my newly acquired Jamie at Home cook book. As recommended by a friend, I decided to do the chicken in barbeque sauce... fantastic, well, it would have been if we could have got the damn barbeque alight... tried in vain, even resorted to lighter fluid but it was as dead as a dodo!
I now know why all my friends have gas barbies , so this week my top job is to buy one.
Ironically along with the blazing heat, I’m busy working on a Ski Chalet for the forth coming ski season. My desk is covered in wools and furs – it seems so wrong - I have to keep going and standing by the freezer to get inspired!
Fortunately I’m also working on a very contemporary house in southern Spain which is easy given our climate at the moment. This is a great project because in a way it’s nice not to be doing the typical Spanish interiors and being allowed to work with dramatic granites and metalics for the interiors.
(Don’t get me wrong, it’s still very Mediterranean on the exterior with white washed walls, lemon and lime trees and beautiful dark wood decking around the pool.)
I thought I’d have an easy time sourcing furniture locally, but I was wrong so a fair bit will have to come from the UK – Espacio here I come – luckily they’re online so I won’t have to traipse round London in the sun...
Right off to get my head back into snow...
