Natalie's Blog
Natalie is part of SheerLuxe’s editorial team. When she’s not dreaming/hinting/talking about Chanel 2.55s (much to her boyfriend’s chagrin), she loves wolfing down La Duree macaroons, drawing waifish girls in very expensive outfits, and dancing to rock n’ roll music with a G&T in tow.
That’s when she’s not shopping, of course, which takes up approximately 89% of her time. Her favourite online haunts are Topshop.com, Net-a-Porter.com, Myla.com and FeelUnique.com (thank goodness for tax-free Touche Eclat).
Cashmere & Confectionary
Published on Thursday 23rd October 2008
It seems I have spent every spare moment in my first week of SheerLuxe snacking, not helped by the office snack cupboard and all the yummy treats at press events – great for luring in journalists I’m sure but not so good for my waistline.
The Eric Bompard store launch party was no exception. I almost forgot about the beautiful cashmere when I saw the enormous tower of La Duree macaroons.
I scoffed the entire bottom tier and didn’t even think of my thighs when I saw the willowy frame of Margo Stilley, who was DJing.
As much as I love a trip to La Duree in Burlington Arcade, I would much rather wolf down a whole box when no one’s looking than delicately nibble one in full view of shoppers browsing the swimwear in Vilebrequin opposite. So you can imagine my distress when I discovered that Harrods’ online shop no longer stocks my La Duree fix.
I was seriously considering shopping offline (what a novel idea!) when in true SheerLuxe style, Georgie and Laura came to my rescue and suggested Forman & Field, one of the few British e-tailers who whip up these French fancies to satisfy macaroon-maniacs, like me.
Whilst a Margo-style body is becoming more and more unlikely, I have decided to eat enough macaroons to require several new cashmere jumpers from Eric Bompard, as I’m estimating my old knits simply won’t fit my target dress size.
Perhaps that was Eric’s plan all along…
