Chocolate Rains...
Published on Thursday 18th October 2007
Working in this industry, the post bag tends to get flooded with invitations to press days and events and it’s easy to become a bit choosy about the ones you have time to go to and the ones you don’t.
But there are some that, no matter how busy you are, you just definitely don’t miss.
A few weeks ago the invitation to Neuhaus’ 150th Anniversary and the launch of their Rain Of Stars chocolates dropped through the door and who was I to say no. An evening sipping champagne and nibbling (or perhaps scoffing) Belgium chocolates.... I couldn’t get there quick enough.
In fact it seemed like the rest of the world had had the same idea; the place was heaving (by the look on their faces I’m not sure the girls who'd organised it knew what had hit them) with press smiling from ear to ear with chocolate in one hand, champers in the other, full of inspiration to get writing. Never under estimate the power of chocolate.
Although Neuhaus isn’t a name we all know that well yet, in Belgium it’s on every corner. Jean Neuhaus was the first to invent the Praline and so it seems you couldn’t celebrate 150 years without a few new flavours.
And what better a way to do it than get nine internationally renowned chefs to each create a unique praline inspired by their own personality, home country and imagination. And so the Rain Of Stars was born.
With Raymond Blanc representing the UK with his Earl Grey and Lemon Ganache and Tateru Yoshino from Tokyo creating a Matcha Tea Ganache you begin to get a feel of the original and unique flavours that have been created.
Presented in a modern, sleek and luxurious box they make a great gift, even if the flavours all sound a little bit exotic for you.
