Coffee, Cake & A Good Gossip... Published on Friday 23rd May 2008
After coffee and cakes at Sketch this morning I was left feeling rather traumatised.
Not at the coffee and cakes or Sketch (I could camp out there all day) but at the ‘home truths’ (on Hollywood’s rich and famous) that the glam gal from New York I was meeting with seemed to be know ALL about.
OK, so maybe I'm a bit of an old romantic (I did meet my husband at 19!) but I tend not to believe rumours and gossip until I have hard proof... Let's just say that I've always wanted to believe in TomKat but after today (she has ‘friends that work in wardrobe’) and that Oprah interview maybe it really is all a charade (apparently they live in separate wings)...
So you'll see why I left our meeting feeling a little deflated.
But as I tottered up Regent Street, the Principles store caught my eye and everything got a whole lot better.
Monsoon, Wallis, Principles, they're all doing it - doing what? New 'luxe' collections.
In a nut shell sophisticated pieces that are better quality and more expensive (but still high st prices) than their standard collections.
In the Principles Nouveau Collection you'll find beautiful high waisted fluid trousers, tailored jackets, glamorous evening dresses and intricately beaded sheer tops.
And the piece that really did it for me? A wonderful off white waistcoat (pictured). And at £85 (whether the likes of Reiss stock similar or not) it is definitely worth the money.
