Even your pantry need be chic...
Published on Tuesday 19th September 2006

I never though I'd be the kind of person to get excited about anything utility, especially not a dustpan and brush (!) but I have to say that I've recently found myself having such feelings about such products! It all happened when I discovered The Linen Works.com - a wonderful online store stocking products for the home.

The Linen Works products are hardworking and simple, and they've all been inspired by the look I love - pared-down, pantry-chic. The beauty of pantry-chic is that the products don't really age- in fact they look better with age - it's part of their appeal. You'd like to imagine that they came from your grandmother's pantry in her Normandy Chateau....

At The Linen Works this autumn you'll find some wonderful new bits. As well as some new olivewood utensils, you'll love their lightweight enamelware from Austria. This little kettle (£31.50) is just the sweetest thing. It's duck egg blue and would look just delightful resting on your stove, it's even got a (removable) whistle to let you know when it has boiled.

The darker the evenings get, the less I feel like going out. I just love the thought of curling up on my bed with a good book and a few of these pretty Bolster cushions (£39.95). They'd be lovely in a spare room too.

For even more cosiness, curl up with one of their classic check wool Windowpane Throws - they're available in dark chocolate and white (£65). Always useful for the end of your bed or on the arm of your sofa for those chilly winter evenings.

My favourite piece from The Linen Works comes from the 'Utlity' deparment! This taupe Bucket and Scoop (£27) gives the storing of something as mundane as washing powder and dog biscuits a whole new meaning. If, like me, you're into matching, then there's also a great taupe Utensil Basket (£21.50). Both are also available in white.
