For the man who has it all...

Published on Monday 4th December 2006

The distinguished gentleman tends to have it all, which makes present buying at Christmas, when one has a list as long as one's arm of in-laws, second cousins and step aunts to buy presents for too, rather tricky and time consuming to get right.

So, to whom does one turn to to tackle the task in hand? To another such gentleman I would suggest. When a woman buys for another woman she more often than not gets it right but when a man for buys for a woman the same can't usually be said, and the same applies to the male sex. Put it down to the whole Mars and Venus theory.

It is with this in mind that I suggest we turn our attention to none other than distinguished gentleman himself, David Linley, and his exquisite range of accessories that are available for purchase online.

For his bedside or study I would suggest one of Linley's fine frames (from £165) or perhaps this classic Garrick Desk Set (£950) that includes a flat blotter, pencil pot, noteholder, letter rack and desk tidy all in sycamore with inlay (all items can be bought individually too).

If you feel like spoiling him then this limited edition lockable Tantalus (£1595) is absolutely beautiful. Made from rosewood with nickel plated brass detail and an engravable silver plaque, it contains two deep engraved lead crystal decanters. Just the thing for an after dinner night cap with an old chum.

But the ultimate gift for the distinguished gentleman this Christmas can be none other than this Shooting Companion (£3450). Oiled walnut with leather handles and an engravable sterling silver plaque, it contains two 24% lead crystal decanters with sterling silver plaques inlaid, a cigar cutter and a compartment to hold 8 Corona No 5 cigars. There is also a removable rack in walnut that holds 8 pewter cups. It is the epitome of sheer luxe and cannot be beaten. Don't be put off by its name, something of this beauty (and price!) should not be confined to shooting!

If the above all seem far too extravagant and you're merely after some little extras or stocking fillers, then this Door Stop (£15), box of Pencils (£15), Champagne Bottle Stopper (£59) and Candle Snuffer (£110) are all as impeccably crafted as everything else.

And frankly, you wouldn't expect anything less from Royalty.
