How maternity clothes have Blossomed...
Published on Tuesday 8th August 2006

I have distinct memories of my mother pregnant with my little brother, dressed in what could only be described as a floral catastrophe - making her look like she was nine months pregnant when she was only four! These unflattering creations usually came from somewhere like Laura Ashley or some rather grotty second hand maternity shop on the New Kings Road.

Thankfully things have changed. I'm really looking forward to some day being able to wear some of the gorgeous maternity clothes that are available.

One of my favourite online maternity retailers is Blossom Mother & Child who launched its own collection in 2004. It takes its inspiration from the latest runway fashions and marries the styles with comfort. The collection includes basics, evening & day-wear and lingerie. We love this beige cami with built-in support.

Their Autumn Winter 2006 collection is quite stunning. There's an assortment of luxurious fabrics and texture (suedes, jerseys, silk satins and chiffons) in a palette of autumnal colours and prints. If you're preggers this winter then a warm coat, to keep you and your little one warm, is absolutely essential. Their Esme coat is very sixties and very lovely.

For evening their Evonne top is our absolute favourite. Its totally and utterly chic and elegant. Its worth getting some staple trousers and a pair of jeans to team up with a few different pretty tops like this.

Blossom Mother & Child have a great selection of pregnancy jeans - all with jersey panels giving you a snug fit - they do their own denim label as well as 7 For All Mankind, Rock and Republic and James Jeans!

So go on, look sexy, glowing and like the yummiest of mummies right up until your ninth month.
