How's A Girl To Cope?
Published on Sunday 1st July 2007
Now I know I’m a bit of a weather stalker and I hate to bang on but come on, this weather really is beyond a joke. The longest day of the year has passed, Britain (not at its best) has been experiencing the worst flooding ever for this time of year and my new summer wardrobe has barely seen the light of day.
If we knew what was good for us, then we’d just expect it (trouble is we’ve been spoilt with pretty decent Ascot’s, Glastonbury’s and Wimbledon’s in the last couple of years) but I’m ever the optimist and this year I was hoping for the treble.
So how’s a girl to cope with this ever changing weather? I was having a browse the other day and looking for a little midweek treat but just wasn’t sure which way to go. A nice summer dress or perhaps a woolly cardi? But from somewhere my willpower kicked in and I decided neither – until at least the sun decides to put its hat on again.
This willpower however was rather short lived. Newspapers and magazines brimming with pictures of Glastonbury and an array of wellies (traditional green and blue Hunters aside) caught my eye.
So I had a look at WellieArt.com and was rather tempted but their collection of delicious designs, colours and style. There’s so much choice that one could almost have a different pair to match every outfit! But let’s not go crazy – I’ve still got my fingers (and toes!) crossed for sunshine sometime before August.
A few hours passed and I still hadn’t had my midweek treat. I found myself wondering whether patterned wellies really are me or not. I’m a bit more of a traditionalist so perhaps a classic pair of Hunters or Le Chameaus (available at Wellie-Boots.com) is really more my thing. But then I do adore those pink lace ups...
In the end I settled on tradition and as it’s my sister’s birthday coming up soon I popped back to WellieArt.co.uk and bought her a totally mad, brightly coloured pair. I know she’ll love them, and wear them with style, and the beauty of having sisters is that I know I’ll end up borrowing them too!
