Hues to Cure the Winter Blues

Nicole moved to London from the U.S. shortly after graduating in May.

While she thinks it’s fate that Anthropologie popped up on Regent Street a week after she arrived, Nicole also adores high street favourite Zara and beauty haven Space N.K.

Natural sunlight is my saviour. Not only does it mean bronzed (OK, more like slightly tinted in my case) skin but it’s my ultimate motivation, too. Without the sun around, it’s so much easier to retreat to the bed and forget all of those to dos. Unfortunately for me, the world keeps turning through this season of what seems like perpetual darkness. To cope, I’ve speckled my flat with odds and ends in bright colours.

The one room I’ve mostly ignored – save for a chair cushion I covered with a sparkly purple scarf – is my home office.

Usually I’m bursting with do-it-yourself ideas to make my end of the day tasks all the more bearable, but lately I’ve been online shopping happy. (A result of interning at Sheerluxe perhaps?) Lucky for me, spring has sprung in the shops.

One of the tasks on my list is to salvage the addresses I’ve stored in messy spreadsheets and organise them in a more appealing form. Long before I moved to London in October, I coveted Liberty’s fabrics and am totally obsessed with this Liberty Iconic notebook on Waterstones.com.

And I really think I would finally write my birthday gifters thank yous if only Hello! Lucky’s summery letterpress note cards were mine.

And the splash pink motif on this Graham & Green frame would inspire me to finally print my wedding pictures from the summer while these these metallic votive holders with their teal and berry-coloured beads are fab for a little natural glow.

With such bold trappings, maybe I’ll finally be able to whittle away at my list just in time for us to turn the clocks forward next month.
