If Only I Had A Crystal Ball...

Published on Friday 13th June 2008

OK hands up, I didn’t know – so I’m guessing that means that thousands and probably millions of other parents don’t...

Do you get your children’s eyes tested? I know now that it’s a good health recommendation – though there’s no specific website, no leaflets (anyone who has any let me know!) to advise parents when to take their little cherubs to the opticians. I also now know why a good dose of Hannah Montana and High School Musical books just weren’t getting that little book worm going..... because she couldn’t see very well.

No 1 child is now sporting rather nice little specs. I hope my lesson (and confession) helps others rather frustrated parents.

Here is the drill: it’s as important as the dentist!!! As parents we should all visit the opticians every 2 years. I’ve found a lovely lady local to me... so far I’m proud owner of two pairs of Pradas and now a lovely pair of Versaces (found whilst No 1 was being tested).

Nationally good old Spec Savers are doing their bit for kids and pushing this kids testing into the limelight. Spec Savers have also created awareness and helped to increase skills in Ethiopia where over a million people are blind or have poor vision. For sporty kids who need glasses they do a cracking range of sports goggles. And if that’s not enough, they’ll also give your old glasses to a well deserving new home. Fab!

So all those without a crystal ball (and who don’t know whether their children simply don’t like reading or can’t) give an optician a call – the test is fairly easy and even my three year old managed to point to the clowns bow tie.
