I'm Not A Carry A Bag: The New Alternative Published on Monday 25th February 2008
I’ve confessed before to being one of the masses that queued for one of Anya’s 'I’m Not A Carry A Bag' bags but if the truth be known – as much as an alternative to a piece of orange plastic should be something we all own – mine is now sitting at the back of the cupboard gathering dust.
Put it this way, after seeing not one but several ‘unsavoury’ looking girls (think velour tracksuits, slicked back hair, a row of gold hoops and a lot more chewing gum) armed with them on the bus, I decided mine had had its day.
It seems price points do have their place – well in the world of luxury anyway.
Not that the purpose of the I’m Not A Carry A Bag was about luxury but let’s just say I’m rooting for the new alternative.
Anya Hindmarch’s new Fashion Week Totes are made from white canvas with tan leather straps; choose from New York, Tokyo or Paris (£45 each) or treat yourself to a set of three for £110.
It’s the perfect number for the shopping; to carry shoes / mags etc to work (if you know me you’ll know my feelings about girls and tatty old shopping bags with shoes in!); to stuff full of gym kit or come summer (it’s frighteningly but excitingly close) to take to the beach or to the park for a picnic.
I’m just hoping the £45 (as opposed to £5) price tag will ward off some of the riff raff!
