It's All Going Swimmingly, Thanks...

I’m talking here about my ethical fashion life, of course. Time was that it was hard to stick to ethical principles and dress as I wanted to. Still not fully there, mind... Roger Vivier perennially beckons as does Etro, but hey, at least my jeans are now almost exclusively Aoki or Del Forte.
But I digress. Swimwear. Given the state of most ‘eco’ swimwear, it has long been more about choosing any look over terribly ugly. But all that is changing – and how.
Check out Mociun’s organic cotton lycra one piece in navy with striking orange lining – retro-cool at its best. And the fit is universally flattering because it’s simply cut and you can adjust the neck ties.
Then there are some organic cotton and lycra pieces from Kelly B – I haven’t tried them but you can bet I will, starting with this front ringed, removable straps, 3-ties at the back cutie (okay, I admit it, I’m not a bikini girl!).
Add to this a fetching ensemble – matched hat and bag in fairly traded silk by La Vie Devant Soie or a Riviera Bag in transitional organic cotton and hand embroidery by Nahui Ollin, perhaps?
Finally, what of the cover up/wrap/ kaftan flourish. Here I must admit, until I find a suitable ‘eco’ alternative, I must re-route myself into regular fashion fabulosity: Rana Gill is top of my list. Intricate hand beading on sheer chiffons cut in sexy styles. Heaven in a knee-high kaftan. Hard to come by as yet in the UK but if you’re really really keen, let me know...
And finally last but in no way least is Heidi Klein. Just being in their shop makes me feel like I’m at the beach and the Pamela Kaftan I ordered the other day, well, that makes me feel like I’m a babe at the beach. Enough said.
