Lynda's Blog

Lynda loves running her interior design business, L Interiors , mostly because she has such wonderful clients (most of which become friends) and partly because it takes her abroad to wonderful places.

Lynda lives in the country – although as she much as she loves it, she’s an ex Notting Hill girlie and couldn’t do it 24/7! Her favourite online stores are GlamOnWeb.com (La Perla), JimmyChoo.com, Hush-UK.com and bbr.com (Berry Bros) because they supply her with the most delicious champagne!

Life In London...
Published on Friday 24th August 2007

I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to borrow a friends house in Chelsea for the past couple of weeks and it really is good to be back in the city for a while.

I’ve been making the most of being in London each day by going to some of the fabric and furniture suppliers that when I just come up for a day or so each week I don’t get to reach.

Great as it is to see them now, I’m desperately waiting for the launch of all their new fabrics on Sunday 23rd September.

One fabric house that always inspires is Designers Guild, and they’ve come up with some stunning fabrics this season. And no waiting until the 23rd for them - the fabrics were out in the Kings Road showroom for all to see two weeks ago - I have all the samples on my desk ready for my next project.

The Taillandier silks are by far the most inspiring: a wealth of colour woven into complex jacquards and stripes, in short, a very luxurious collection. To compliment the silks are the Amalienborg prints and wallcoverings - I think the most stunning of the papers is Marienlyst – do check out the pink and the green colourway….stunning!

For a client’s bedroom I’ve chosen the Sanssouci wallpaper - but only on the one wall behind the bed as it’s a powerful print. I’ll team this with the silk Amelie for sumptuous curtains. It’s a hard collection to beat so I’ll be intrigued to see what the other fabric house’s have in store for us.

the forbury hotelMeanwhile it’s the Reading festival this weekend and I’m doing it in style with an access all areas pass. I’m also staying at Reading’s best kept secret, The Forbury Hotel where the after party is taking place. It’ll be rocking – it’s such a great venue.

I wish I could claim all the glory for the interiors at the Forbury; it has been done like no other Hotel I know of and with no expense spared on the décor throughout. And as much as I’m loving my stay in London, I’m looking forward to escaping the city for a long weekend.
