Male Grooming - How Far Should They Go?

Published on Sunday 8th July 2007

When it comes to men and skincare there’s a fine line to the amount of time and money they can invest in it without being subject to reams of abuse. A toothbrush, an aftershave, a razor and perhaps a lick of hair gel is generally as far as the majority go in the grooming stakes... and that’s if we’re lucky.

Now I’m not suggesting that they don the Jean Paul Gaultier make up range but a good cleanse and moisturise would do wonders for their skin. And if the suggestion of a cleanser makes them spit out their coffee then the Clinique Face Soap would do the trick.

I was chatting to a girlfriend not long ago about the joys of a good facemask. She’d done one the night before and suggested to her boyfriend that he give it a go as well. He didn’t decline as you might expect, in fact he was more than happy to oblige and even double checked that she’d covered his T zone!

korres wild rose maskI came back from a Korres event the other day with an amazing bag of goodies, and just like Christmas morning I got home and rifled through my bag to see what I’d got. As well as yummy products to try myself (namely their Wild Rose Mask and Yoghurt Body Butter), I’d been given the Marigold Aftershave Balm, which given my recent conversation as above, I gave to my boyfriend.

I slightly expected it to sit on the bathroom shelf and gather dust. But to my surprise he started using it the very next day and hasn’t stopped raving about it since. Apparently it feels incredibly smooth and the irritation he suffers from after shaving has virtually gone.

Now I’m not sure I’ll be asking him to join me and the girls for an evening of Korres pampering (for a natural range that delivers on value and results I can’t recommend the Greek brand more highly) but if a little care here and there makes a difference to his skin then I’m all for it.
