Jill, old enough not to want to give away her age, is mother to four demanding daughters that keep her on her toes when it comes to anything retail and beauty related.

Jill much prefers shopping online to fighting the masses instore and her favourite websites include EveLom.co.uk, OkaDirect.com, TimeToSpa.co.uk, Inverawe.co.uk and FormanAndField.com (the latter two keep the men in the family smiling!).

MOTB: Seven Saturdays to Go!

Sunny weather just brings out the dirt and dust – well, it’s always been there but the gloom of winter keeps it well hidden. This weekend it was revealed in our sunroom; the sun was actually in it for once, which is unusual, and which is why it fills up with clutter and grime.

Spring fever got to me, especially as that's the dining area for the band who will be playing at the wedding (and anyone else that needs sustenance other than the guests). I cleared and cleaned until it shone like a new pin!

my-pashmina-motb.jpg The village fete has done very well out of the newfound sunshine, which is almost poetic as it is it coincides with the wedding and anyone who arrives early can spend a happy hour two enjoying the pleasures of one of the highlights of an English village.

Who knows, they might buy some of the bric a brac if the girls take big enough bags!

My children will also benefit as I’ve finally emptied all the packing cases from my late mother-in-law’s house and they’re now all ready for any wedding presents while the happy couple are away on their honeymoon. The former contents will end up with those not as yet blessed with such gifts!

Although we have sunshine at the moment I’m mindful that English weather can be a bit temperamental, so I thought I should investigate pashminas for the bridesmaids.

I looked on the web and found just what I was looking for on MyPashmina but - horror of horrors - they only had two available in the size and colour that I needed, so for once I had to pick up the old fashioned telephone and ring them.

On the other end I found an angel called Stuart, who calmed me down and said it wasn’t a problem and he would request that a further two be made in my preferred colour. He arranged to send the available two immediately to make sure that I was sure that they were right and sure enough they were with me the next day. I called him today and he arranged for the others to be made. He has my custom for life – or until they go out of fashion anyway…

Comments from our members:

"mypashmina are great and exceptional value as well. I bought an ivory pashmina for my wedding and have not stopped wearing it. the quality is excellent, thick enough to actually take a chill off, wide enough to cover the broadest of shoulders and yet fine enough to wear bunched as a scarf! they also have THOUSANDS (only a slight exaggeration) of colours and deliver super quickly."

MOTB: The Final Countdown

Only nine and a half weeks to go! 'I DON”T BELIEVE IT!!!' as some TV comedian puts it. Where did the time go? One minute it’s all about getting the announcements in the paper and now it’s just a few weeks away and I’m in a panic – what have I forgotten to...

MOTB: Booze in Battersea

So off we went, the Bride and I, to the Designer Wedding Show in Battersea Park to see what we could find. We’ve got most things organised, but wanted to seek out those little extras, such as lingerie, rose petal confetti and suchlike. We soon realised that the show is best for those...

MOTB goes to a Wedding Show

You may have noticed (if you’ve got your mind on wedding bells) that there are dozens of wedding shows on at the moment. We passed through Liverpool last week and I saw ads for at least two, and that’s without the major shows at Battersea, Earls Court et al. I went to...

Diary of a MOTB (The Countdown Begins...)

Help! It’s getting closer- we are all on post-Christmas diets – and I wake up in the middle of the night remembering something else that hasn’t been done, only to find when I wake up that it has. By that time I am sooo exhausted by lack of sleep it’s just as well...

Diary of a MOTB (part 7)

Well this IS strange– the last Christmas over when we, the immediate family that is, shared the same surname. Now I know how my parents felt when, after all the effort you put into your offspring, they dump their identity at the first opportunity! Not that I would have done differently so I...
