Moving Up & On...

After five years in a one bedroom flat that could be mistaken for a shoe box, we’ve just had an offer accepted on a house! Tempting fate to blog about it I know but sometimes the excitement just gets the better of you.

We had decided we’d wait until later this year but in a moment of weakness (whilst browsing PrimeLocation.com), the accountant (aka the husband) spotted something that even Captain Sensible himself reckoned was worth a look. I didn’t disagree.

Tucked in the Tonsleys (a little pocket in SW London) was a little picture perfect three bedroom house. Loft conversion – tick. Side return – tick. Smart new carpet, Farrow & Ball Dimity... And even a white picket fence (ok never a key criteria but I’ve always loved Wisteria Lane).

I won’t bore you with the long and drawn out events that followed until the offer was accepted but let’s just say there were four offers before we settled on the fifth and at least a week of sleepless nights.

Since then, the accountant’s formula-filled spread sheet has been working on overdrive as his wife is gearing up to enter interiors heaven.

Ever impulsive, I’m trying my absolute hardest to resist ordering anything until the date of exchange is agreed.

However I have managed to sneak a couple of chest of drawers through without too much trouble. ‘Hon these are a bargain, super stylish, the perfect colour and will look stunning either side of the fireplace in our bedroom. (I mean the bedroom in the house we're hopefully buying).’

As you can see I haven’t quite mastered the lack of emotion that’s needed when buying a house...
