Pro the Pashmina...
Published on Sunday 20th May 2007
I’m one of those cold blooded people who, no matter what time of the year it is, always feels the cold. As a result, I’m never without my beloved pashmina - in fact I’ve got one in pretty much every colour under the sun.
I remember about five years ago, someone telling me that pashminas were about to become so last season. I remember thinking to h*ll with that because having finally found something that could be worn all year round, with any outfit, that looked chic and kept me warm, I was not about to give them up!
They’ve become a staple requirement in every girl’s wardrobe (and work just as well with jeans and pumps as they do with a cocktail dress) and rightly so.
Although I will say that whilst I know you can pick up cheap ones all over the place, it’s worth investing in a decent one. Cheap pashminas will crease, fray, definitely won’t keep you warm, and could in fact end up ruining your outfit, rather than completing it.
So my advice is to spend that little bit extra and get good quality cashmere (or a cashmere and silk mix) that will not only make you feel good but will also make you look good too.
Pure Collection has a fabulous selection of colours in scarves, stoles and shawls, and is definitely worth a visit.
And as the British summer is so unreliable, whether you’ve got weddings to go to, BBQs in the diary or you just want something to take to work to protect you from the incessant air conditioning, a pashmina is a an absolute must for your handbag.
