Testing Times

Yes, it’s THAT time of year again. Exam time. When all the joys of early summer are chased away by the looming prospect of hours of revision, and sweaty afternoons staring at question papers wondering if, by chance, you’ve strayed into the wrong room by mistake because nothing on that sheet makes any sense at all!
There’s little or no fun to be had from exams. Yet from the age of the age of 10, the twins have had to face them pretty much every summer. And will continue to do so until they’re about 25. The least I can do is try to soothe their frayed nerves and make them feel as calm and rested as possible over the next few weeks.
It’s probably a bit late to start on the Omega 3 route but we all know fish is good for the brain so it’s that or fish fingers for breakfast. Still, better late than never. and these capsules are easier to swallow than most. I reckon they’re super good for your skin and nails too, so it’s all win.
Revision (such as it is) will surely go better if everyone (self included) is calm, so I’ve invested in this lovely sound and light show, with pretty colours and a range of sound effect including birdsong and ocean noises which, at least, gives us all something to focus on when the irregular verbs become too much of a snore.
I’m a great believer in the power of aromatherapy – and as a fringe benefit, these fragrant aromatic oils in nifty roller-ball dispensers from Neal’s Yard mask the scent of fear.
On the day of reckoning, it’s not uncommon for the twins to be so terrified, they can’t even think of breakfast but neither of them can resist Lizi’s delicious organic granola, with a particularly low GI to provide long-term energy. Yummy with milk, it’s also irresistible straight from the bag – which is how I’m eating it right now! I’d better ask my good friend Ocado to send me round some more.
