The Chance to Fly in Real Style...

My two greatest fears in life are snakes and planes so when the film Snakes on A Plane came out I wasn’t one of the ones queuing to see it. The trailer itself was enough to make me cower in fear.

I’m so terrified of snakes in fact that I spent my four days on safari walking round the lodge with my eyes shut for fear that seeing one would confine me to my lodge for the duration of my stay.

Whilst I'd never ever go near a snake, as much as I absolutely hate flying, I do still do it (unlike my godmother whose never been on a plane in her life). Whilst I know I’ve got more chance of being hit by a car and am safer than a bird in flight (or so a friend of mine who studies plane failure told me) the journey always incurs tears, tantrums and never a wink of sleep.

This aside, like everyone I’d love my own jet (I think being able to have the pilot reassure me personally that turbulence is normal and planes don’t just drop out of the sky would help). Whilst this of course isn’t even close to reality, Silver Jet, a business class only London / New York carrier might be the next best thing.

I keep hearing and reading about it and despite my fear of flying am desperate to try it. Ok so flights might leave from Luton but I’m sure I could put up with that in return for no queues, a spacious state of the art Boeing 767, someone to hang my coat for me, a 6’3” flat bed, impeccably cooked fresh food and six hours of quiet…

And with prices starting at £799 (significantly less than the cost of running your own jet) all I have to do is convince my husband. Perhaps for his next birthday…
