The Hunt Is On... Published on Thursday 17th April 2008
If money were no object I’d be a living breathing coat hanger for Philip Lim, and Miu Miu and if the red carpet was a popular pit stop then Lanvin and Marchesa too. But looking stylish isn’t all that difficult when all you need do is flash your black amex to have the world’s best womenwear at your fingertips.
The stylish thing becomes a little more tricky when black amex cards aren’t part of the mix and budgets are a little more conservative. That said, affordable fashion and in particular the British high street has never been better - you might just have to hunt a bit harder for serious style.
We’re not alone in our high esteem for Reiss (my new peach knit is just perfection) and you’ll know by now that M&S is a firm favourite.
And if the hype about the economy coming from the current press (and the accountant turned banker hubby for that matter) is for real then I’ll probably be shopping nowhere else for the foreseeable future. Because for value, choice and style it doesn’t get much better.
My latest purchases are Limited Collection’s Double Layer Sheer Blouse – the soft coral is one of my all time favourite colours and Autograph Weekend’s ¾ Sleeve Longline Shirt with Silk – it’s beautifully light without being see through – except on the sleeves where it’s sheer.
At £29.50 and £35 respectively I’m pretty pleased with my buys. And somehow having to hunt for them will make wearing them all the more satisfying...
