The Little Black Dress...
Published on Wednesday 12th December 2007
It is a sad day. Today I realised that yet another year has passed when I haven’t reached my target of effortlessly slipping into a little black dress.
Last new year my new year’s resolution was to absolutely promise (cross fingers and toes) that this Christmas (that’s mmmmm next week) I would be in the most amazing little black dress – have you seen Marc Jacobs’ One Shoulder Cocktail number (pictured left)?
I have a Christmas party this Friday and it’s a flowing brown empire dress for me - quite glam but also a little wider than the average LBD. I’m going for a pair of sparkly Gina shoes to divert attention.
Does size matter for the little black dress wearer? Well I’m proud to say that I’m actually the size of the average British woman – well on most days, I’m slightly above average on Mondays (I do like a nice chilled white).
Sadly the classic LBD hasn’t much in the way of stretch so I guess even the biggest pulling in and pull up pants won’t make that much of a difference – have you seen how high they can go now! Quite impressive.
Looking back over 2007 I’m amazed at the amount of time and effort that went in with my personal trainer who I managed to cancel today (again, phew!)... but hey it was a happy year and that’s the main thing.
It’ll just have to be next years challenge, again. I send out my best Christmas wishes to all those who long to fit into a LBD (and of course to all you lot lucky enough to already!), for us it’s just going to have to wait until 2008... until then I say let’s make the most of mulled wine and mince pies!
