The perfect party dress...

Those Christmas parties are filling up the diary and the worry and dilemma of what to wear just won't seem to go away. But there's nothing better to get you in the party mood than a new dress.
You don't need me to tell you that we should all have a couple of Little Black Dresses in our wardrobe and on cold, wet, winter nights like we're currently experiencing, I for one, just don't seem to want to wear any other colour.
Here are a few of my current LBD favourites that are available at MatchesFashion.com  (For those of you who don't know, Matches, the boutique, has just launched on line and is definitely one to visit!)
If you like to keep things covered then I'd recommend this Biba crepe tie neck dress (£475). Bella Freud's revival of the 1960s Biba label has had mixed reviews but there's no denying the subtle wow factor of this dress. If you're going straight from the office to the party then something like this Burberry Prorsum black crepe dress (£855) is the answer. It's not cheap but it's versatile enough to be able to wear just about anywhere.
 
This silk delicately patterned empire line mini-dress from Hanni Y (£400) would look great with leggings - if you've embraced the trend that is - if not, team it with thick opaque tights. It would look ultra cute with a little baby bump underneath it too!
Navy is sometimes a bit softer on the skin and I just love this
3.1 Philip Lim short sleeved round neck mini-dress (£492) with delicate beading at the neckline and a black floral embossed tulle over layer. But if you feel like showing off a bit more flesh then this DKNY off the shoulder, navy blue knee length dress with smocked detail at the waist and short puffed sleeves (£236) is excellent value.
