The Quest for Eco Living...

Published on Monday 26th November 2007

The latest must-have in the quest for eco living? No it’s not fashion or food or anything quite as enticing; the latest must have for an organic and eco friendly lifestyle is natural cleaning products. Sexy.

daylesford-washing-up-liquid-blog.jpgMade from the finest quality natural ingredients these new ranges of healthy household items get through grease and grime in a way that’s really rather surprising.

If you’ve always thought that Cillit Bang and Flash (effective as they are) were the only way to do it then think again because there’s a way that’s better for the environment (they don’t have damaging effects on the soil and water), better for your surfaces and better for you (Cillit Bang has a knack of hitting the back of the throat).

You won’t be surprised to hear that Daylesford Organic were on to this months ago. Their range of natural and safe cleaning products is natural, biodegradable and has minimum impact on the environment. They guarantee to use only ingredients that are safe and pure, kind to the skin and have not been tested on animals.

And you’ll be happy to hear that they don’t cost the earth either (when my rosemary scented Washing Up Liquid and grapefruit Surface Cleaner turned up six months ago, my husband presumed I’d spent a fortune….£4 to be precise - a small price to pay for a sweet smelling kitchen).

Other brands, Natural House (whose products are all registered with the Vegan Society) and The White Company (the latter launch their range in Feb - in time for a Spring Clean) are cottoning on too and with our new found attitude to organic living we’re all bound to have them gracing our cupboards before we know it.

And the best thing? The understated packaging means they look a darn site better on your windowsill too.
