Jill, old enough not to want to give away her age, is mother to four demanding daughters that keep her on her toes when it comes to anything retail and beauty related.

Jill much prefers shopping online to fighting the masses instore and her favourite websites include EveLom.co.uk , OkaDirect.com, TimeToSpa.co.uk, Inverawe.co.uk and FormanAndField.com (the latter two keep the men in the family smiling!).

The Snows Are Acoming...
Published on Monday 26th November 2007

The forecast over the next few days is abysmal – first the temperature is supposed to drop, then there’ll be black ice, then snow and then the temperature will warm up a bit before we revert back to rain and surface water! With all this to look forward to I’m heading online to find something nice and cosy to keep the weather out!

nap karl donoghue cossack hat]From top to toe we need to keep our extremities warm and dry - so we’re told, because if they’re warm the rest of us will survive. So as survival of the fittest is the name of the game I’m on a mission to find a hat that’ll keep my head warm without making me look like Miss Marple on a bad hair day.

Celtic Sheepskin has some amazing earmuffs which look so glamorous but may be preferable heading down the ski slopes than heading down Bond Street.

Whiz on to Net-a-Porter and you’ll find a wonderful range of head warmers from See by Chloe and Burberry beanies to divine furry Cossack hats from Karl Donoghue (pictured left, £130) that would look good just anywhere.

I’ve recently bought the most glamorous pair of leather gloves from our friends at M & S but I’m still hankering after a pair from Anedoti - but I can’t make up my mind between the fur trimmed cuffs (sooooo warm) (pictured right, £65) or the sky blue and tan two-toned pair ... I’ve either got to find an old-fashioned coin to toss or let the new fangled card pay for both!

That just leaves the tootsies and the neck, both of which prefer to be wrapped in cashmere of course. Isla offers beautiful knitted pashminas (not to mention the things they do for little-ees) and has the added advantage of being 100% Scottish (which must be better than tiny children in far off places making them).

The good old White Company have produced my idea of heaven – cashmere bedsocks in the most beautiful colours, the softest ivory, the prettiest pink and a divine ice blue – I really must put them on my Christmas list and hope the Chief Elf reads it.
