The Wow in Bow-Wow
Published on Wednesday 7th May 2008
Last week we welcomed a new member into our family – Prince Haf (KC name) or, more casually, Crunchie (so named by the ‘leader of the pack’ because of the state of credit markets. Seriously.)

Of course my natural response to the new arrival has been to research and sniff out (pun intended, haha) the best in puppy living online. A whole new dimension in shopping... for this guy... why even try to resist? And, really, he needs the same areas of attention as most of us:
1. Looking Good: Max & Margot, all the way – unrivalled in ideas, presentation (shop by trend?! Love it!) and, of course, pet-ware/wear. Which new pup doesn’t need a Muttgarita plush squeaky toy to wile away those teething hours?
2. Smelling Good: In doggies, more than other beings, looking good equates with smelling good and given the soggy weather, Crunchie will be getting a warm bath sooner than he might expect. These days, though, one has no idea what ‘extras’ are going into stuff we absorb through our skin and hair so its off to LushPuppies, with its fabulous range of natural and SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate)-free shampoos, spritzs, paw balm and more . Choose your fragrance from Lazy Daisy, Antie Beastie or Frootie Cutie.
3. Eating Well: growing up in India in a fully vegetarian home (dogs included) it never occurred to me that they needed much more than rice, daal (lentils) and some veggies. Clearly things are done differently in the UK and Crunchie will not be a fellow vegetarian. But he will eat natural and The Dog Deli has got it right. Freshly cooked food, real vegetables mixed in with natural meat and all researched for being nutritionally balanced. Chicken Brown Rice and Seaweed Crunchies, anyone?
So that’s what’s in store (another pun, yes) for Crunchie in the days to come. Along with plenty of love, attention and kisses.
