Time in the Tub
Published on Thursday 27th November 2008
Not sure about you but one of my favourite things at this time of year is a nice big bubble bath. Nothing beats slipping into the warmth of your tub to help you forget about the freezing cold and rain outside. Let alone the worries of what on earth to buy people for Christmas, what to wear to the Christmas party or who to kiss under the mistletoe (I’ll be lucky!).
My bathroom is jampacked with all sorts of lotions and potions but I have a particularly wide selection of bath salts, bubbles and bath bombs to create whatever mood takes my fancy.
I have to admit it’s usually relaxation that I’m aiming for and, although it’s great, I normally want something a little more indulgent than Radox. Aveda do an awesome bath soak called Caribbean Therapy. It’s really rich and nourishing and makes you feel like you are far away on a hot Caribbean island – not suffering winter in the UK. Plus, for every online order you place on the Aveda website until the end of this year they are donating £1 to their Earth Month Campaign which helps to provide clean water to those in need.
For those environment-conscious people, Lush also have a great policy on their packaging and their production so you can’t go wrong with one of their famous bath bombs. Although I do find the one containing rose petals tends to stress me out post-bath with the amount of cleaning needed to get rid of the petals afterwards…
A recent favourite is Cowshed’s uplifting bath gel – Grumpy Cow. Not only does it have a funny name, the packaging looks great in my bathroom and it smells gorgeous. I was quite insulted when someone gave it to me as a gift but I took the hint that I need to chill out more – hence the passion for big bubble baths at the moment!
And when bathtime is over and you are ready to face your Christmas shopping, (in your fluffy bathrobe from the comfort of your computer screen!) I can fully recommend a great new website to solve all your most difficult Christmas dilemmas. A genius friend of mine has set up Send A Thought, which has a great variety of beautifully wrapped gifts and postbox-friendly packages) for all occasions and people. So maintain the relaxed feeling from your long bath and get shopping…
