What to Wear to The Races...
Published on Thursday 5th June 2008
I spent yesterday evening at the races where my eldest nephew who is an apprentice jockey had three rides. It seemed to me, having looked around at my fellow female race goers, that they needed a bit of help on the fashion front. Now we all like to dress up a bit but there is a time and a place for the plunge neckline and some that I saw last night really could have frightened the horses.
As we’re approaching what is forecast to be the biggest credit crunch for some time I thought I’d trawl some of the sites out here that aren’t too expensive but can offer some great looks without the gold card going into meltdown.
On the Phase Eight website there’s actually a section on what to wear to the races with a sweet outfit ideal for either evening racing at Windsor or even the Royal enclosure at Ascot – if it’s the latter just be sure to top it off with some heavenly headgear.
Fenn Wright Manson is another affordable site that’s looking rather smart these days; if you look carefully there are some very attractive outfits.
I’ve also checked out the Coast website which too has a section on what to wear to the races but I would warn you that if buying an outfit for the Royal Enclosure remember that strapless is a no-no unless matched with a smart little jacket (which must be kept on).
But my favourite site has to be L.K Bennett which has a pretty selection of dresses (the gold brocade dress is heaven), coats and jackets, even a choice of three fascinators and when it comes to shoes... well the choice is endless and divine.
I’m going to have to sign off now so that I can carry on drooling over my computer...

The sentiment of the following poem (the origin of which is not known) drives our household and in particular my husband, who uses it as an excuse to get away with MURDER but it makes us all think – In an ancient wall in China A brooding Buddha blinks Deeply graven is the Image “It is...

Wishing I was on a tropical island is a bit of a waste of time and really - I love our island paradise here in Alderney even if being out in the rain is a bit like the ad on the television at the moment showing a woman being power showered by...

When you get to a certain age two things happen, firstly bits of your body start to descend to places you really would rather they did not and only such drastic plastic surgery as to mean that your eyebrows were on the back of your head might help... The second is a...
