When you get to a certain age two things happen, firstly bits of your body start to descend to places you really would rather they did not and only such drastic plastic surgery as to mean that your eyebrows were on the back of your head might help... The second is a complete inability to make a decision.

The one thing I did know was that I really wanted a pair of slightly smarter jeans as we move towards the summer. Even at my great age one can get away with smartening up a pair of denims to wear to the great British barbecue or just early evening drinks in the garden.

I’ve tried on a million pairs of jeans – well (that might be a slight exaggeration) but quite a few and most of them are so low slung that the bits that have descended just cannot be contained.

I was trawling through SheerLuxe the other day when I spotted a site called IloveJeans.com so nothing ventured nothing gained I had a look.

I found they stocked a brand called, in my case very appropriately, Not Your Daughters Jeans. The jeans incorporate a tummy tuck section in the front and are slightly higher than your average jeans without being so high waisted that they’re tight around the neck!

I ordered a pair of flared jeans and they arrived very promptly with Parcel Force, but when I tried them on and paraded them in front of two of my daughters, there was a bit of indecision on their part which meant that I was in an even worse situation!

I went back onto the website and ordered the straight legged jeans, after which I spoke to someone in their office who assured me that it was fine to compare the two and decide which ones to keep, she even suggested a third style that I might try – she really was an online angel!

I finally settled on the flares and returned the straight legs but maybe I should check out those black ones she suggested as well – there’s always room for a pair of black jeans in your wardrobe. Watch this site and don’t forget to tell your mothers!
