Living in Maida Vale definitely has its perks. A mere stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of high streets and shopping, yet enclaved in a pocket of its own greenery, parks and leafy avenues. Enjoyable and relaxing on the weekends, but hardly a break from the noise and demands of the city. I therefore thought I'd surprise Mr K with a weekend away from the recent succession of manic work and social commitments.
An idyllic break in the countryside seemed like a grand idea and the recently opened Coworth Park (for those who watch X Factor, the place where Cheryl revealed her finalists) was the perfect choice. Taking my newly acquired camel coloured cape (a steal at Zara and oh so warm) I thought some long leather gloves would ideally complement the coat of the season. Paying homage to the current leather trend, I really felt I looked the part.
We enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at the in-house restaurant with a two-Michelin-star chef; the cuisine was as promised, divine. We also treated ourselves to a leisurely swim and massages in their eco-luxury spa submerged in the landscape.
My Jimmy Choo Hunter wellies (the even newer Jimmy Choo Ugg ) collaboration is rather eye catching as well! were just the countryside glamour needed. Alas, no chukkas at play but they aided the long walk along the polo fields. After a plush high tea in front of the fireplace in the most elegant and quaint drawing room complete with ivory tinkering (echoing Pride and Prejudice country estate chic), on Sunday evening we begrudgingly headed back to reality via the M4.
