Those that know me well will appreciate that without my one night ‘in’ a week, I can get flustered. I haven’t had a reclusive evening for about three weeks and I'm starting to feel all that gallivanting catching up with me (three coffees down at 12pm). But I'm still young, so with the ‘s
leep when you're dead’ mantra on loop in my head, I’ll press on. Here’s a rundown of what will be keeping me busy this weekend...
Last night was the
Lucian Freud exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Even as a regular gallery go-er I hadn’t come across much of his art before and left shell-shocked by the skill (those tactile build-up of acrylic paints completely transfixed me) and mystifying painting composition. More unnerving than anything I’ve seen for a while.
Tonight half the SL team are off to see fashion's Mad Hatter,
Anna Dello Russo speak at the V&A. Looking forward to seeing if the unconventional outfits are as bonkers in the flesh. Whatever she has to say/wear I’m sure it will be an eye-opener.
Over the weekend I’m making my annual pilgrimage to Leeds for a great friend’s birthday, where I’ll be enjoying a different kind of cultural revelry. So come Sunday night all I’ll be fit for is renting
Midnight In Paris on the sofa. My ideal cultural sandwich.
