jaeger-polka-dot-flower-skirt-multitasker-blog.jpg Today I’m feeling chuffed to bits that navy has resurged as a colour of the moment. For a little while it was cast into the fashion wilderness as a bit mumsy. There’s no doubt it needs to be on the right pieces to stop it looking like a shop uniform but when it’s done right it’s fabulous. It’s great for blondes like me as it’s so much less draining than black.

Navy is the new mum's saviour. It (and chocolate) are such brilliant alternatives to black as they’re much more forgiving on a tired complexion but are still dark and slimming. The navy Kate dress from Babes with Babies for maternity and breastfeeding has just come in and is flying off the shelves. I also love the Nico Baby Changing Bag in patent navy (Dannii Minogue’s choice) for a contemporary take on ‘old navy’.

Oh navy, how I do love thy ways. Navy is much better teamed with neon-brights when you aren’t brave enough to do head to toe clashing fluro. It’s less 80s than wearing them with black. This summer it looks blinkin’ gorgeous with tan (as in tan leather accessories or a brown contrast colour, rather than with a sun tan).

One of the things I like about it is it actually looks pretty against the milk-bottle white of my summer skin. In the summer black shouts ‘give me bronzer and blusher and a bit of St Tropez, goddammit’ whereas navy just says ‘nice. Cream and navy, that’s fine’ very politely.

For me this summer, I’ll probably pick up a Boden navy maxi for the beach. I’m a little bored of the Breton stripe but maybe I’ll try something in navy polkas .

Already popped some Chanel in Blue Satine on my tootsies too. Navy is my friend, head to toe. I’m going to pray that this navy lark lasts and lasts.
