GET THRIFTY:

Circular Groove Pop Up

Circular Groove is a must-know for those in search of archival fashion pieces. For the first time, the online resale platform has come to life as a concept pop-up where you’ll spot an archive John Galliano corset dress, like one worn by Amy Winehouse, as well as a neatly crafted pleated skirt from Comme des Garçons, and accessories from Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Loewe and Christian Dior. You can pop in at any time but, to celebrate the end of the pop-up run, Circular Groove will be hosting an intimate evening with a live jazz performance by Guildhall students on 21st April.

TAKE IN A SHOW:

Minority Report

The Lyric is known for its well-thought-out indie plays, and the latest in line is a new stage adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s dystopian thriller, Minority Report. Popularised by Spielberg’s 2002 sci-fi movie starring Tom Cruise, the novella envisions a future in which criminals are arrested before they commit crimes thanks to apparently scrupulous telepaths called ‘Precogs’. Director David Haig (CobraThe Thin Blue Line) is taking things in a new direction while staying close to the main theme of the book: the debate of free will versus determinism.

GET CRAFTY:

Ceramic Handbuilding Workshop

Pophams has a new workshop space next door to its London Fields bakery. In conjunction with several artists across the UK, it’s launched a spring series of events. There will be evening and afternoon sessions to learn new skills, while enjoying pastries and drinks from the nearby eatery. Led by Izzy Letty, a south London potter, tonight’s ceramic workshop focuses on pottery handbuilding techniques. Attendees can create their own ceramic candlestick holders and trinket dishes, which will be fired in Izzy's kiln and ready for collection at the Hackney shop in two weeks. Tickets are £65 – if you can’t make this one, there are plenty more coming up.
