Welcome to October's Editor's Picks...
Hard women are often criticised for wearing nothing but black. This season you can wear black – head to toe – with no shame. Whether you’re doing gothic or glam, patent or statement, black is the colour du jour.
If the idea of updating your wardrobe for another new season leaves you not knowing where to start then head to over to our A/W Trend Report and pick out a few key looks and pieces that’ll work for you.
With this in mind and the fact that I’m coveting the power dressing trend this season, this month I’ve picked out a selection of snappy jackets and black bags that’ll show you mean business. From Jaeger’s Talitha to Smythson’s Maze, hang one of the latter on your arm for power dressing at its best.
A/W needn’t mean farewell to the day dress and this season tights (lace, plaid or opaque) are more prevalent than ever. Team your day dress with tights and a heel (if you can do 9-5 from a height), a biker boot or preferably a patent pump (here you’ll find something for both work or weekend).
It’s time to start thinking about that big seasonal purchase, the winter coat. To invest or not to invest... My advice? Choose carefully (go timeless), make it an investment if you can and you’ll still be reaching for it in years to come. If the credit crunch is biting then Wallis’ Limited Collection Ovoid Coat is a winner.
On the home front you’ll find a selection of heavenly hooks. Yes who’d have thought a hook could lead to such excitement. Check them out for yourself and we think you’ll see why.
If as the seasons change you crave some creativity in your home (as well as your wardrobe) then add an instant update with a design led cushion. From Liberty (their new e store is well worth a visit) to Harlequin, the range I’ve chosen has something to offer your home be it traditional or contemporary.
Whilst a cushion is easily replaced, a sofa is not. For me, an elegant sofa is one with its feet on display. Here you’ll find a stunning range of smart and stylish) sofas available to order online. Laura Ashley’s Mortimer range is incredibly reasonably priced.
All this as well as kiddy coats to see the little ones through winter come park or party and, if you haven’t already, do check out our High Street Hits, live every other Wednesday helping you can stay on trend without breaking the bank.
And if you need any extra help along the way then do email me at asktheeditor@sheerluxe.com.
Happy shopping to all!
