A Golden Rule Tuesday 24th April 2007 by Elizabeth Richards
Taking your makeup off at the end of the day – however late it may be and however desperate you are to crawl into bed – is one of the golden beauty rules of all time. Cleansing at night time helps to remove the grime, sweat and toxins that accumulate during the day and also, of course, washes away makeup so that skin can breathe and repair itself: skip this vital step and you’re on the fast track route to premature ageing, irritated eyes and congestion.
But however committed you are to your evening regime, the last thing you’ll want to be doing as the clock strikes midnight is scrubbing and rubbing at eyes to clean away every last scrap of mascara. A decent eye makeup remover is an absolute staple so choose a formula – either oil or water based – that works quickly and effectively without leaving too much residue. If eyes are particularly sensitive, apply with a damp cotton wool pad and keep lids firmly closed.
