So whether you spend most of your time in the kitchen, or prefer digging into what has been whipped up for you, freelance writer and author of Luxury Jessica Ruston will give you some food for thought.
Baby it’s cold outside – but it can be hot inside, with our round up of aphrodisiac food and drinks for a lavish love-in...
So cook up a storm with the very best love foods, from a special breakfast to a devishly indulgent pudding. Plus the obligatory oysters and pink champagne to get you in the mood for L.O.V.E.
Asparagus
Get the day off to a seductive start with a breakfast of asparagus spears dipped in soft boiled eggs (which are packed with Vitamin E, which can improve your sex drive). Why not try this using some beautifully rich duck eggs - but remember they’ll need a bit longer to cook than hens' eggs.

Shellfish
Shellfish is a classic choice for a romantic meal, partly because it’s light and won’t make you too stuffed to feel sexy. Treat yourself to a mixed box of prepared Cornish seafood delivered fresh to your door, or keep it simple with a cooked lobster. Serve with a fresh green salad and a big bowl of pommes frites - yum!

Figs
This is a great pudding – take some fresh ricotta and sweeten it a little by mixing it with icing sugar to taste. Take a fig per person, make a cross in the top, then mix some chopped nuts (pistachos work well) with a good glug of runny honey, and drizzle inside the figs. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Truffle Oil
The musky smell of truffles is thought to be an aphrodisiac – be warned, it’s a love it or hate it thing, so if you’re not sure your lover is also a truffle lover, it might be as well to check – but if you’re fans, a simple risotto is all you need to showcase its earthy, sensual delights.

Champagne
Pink champagne is the perfect drink to lift the spirits on a grey February day, and this non-vintage offering from Ayala (who are owned by Bollinger) strikes the right note of indulgence and great value. Go on, get your best flutes out and treat yourself.

Chocolate
Hotel Chocolat’s Dipping Kits provide everything you need for a sweet and oh so sensuous fondue (though we think they’re even better with some fresh bits - feed each other figs, berries or your favourite biscuit, all dipped in the velvety chocolate).
