Beauty counters may be armed with a wealth of products aimed at specific skin types – oily, dry, sensitive – but actually skin is funny old stuff, not necessarily happy to sit in one camp or the other. In fact, if you notice dry areas lying side by side with shiny patches, and if skin feels itchy, tight and greasy, you most likely have the classic combination type where skin struggles to control sebum production and hormones, and stress and environmental elements can quickly send things skewiff.
Although the root of the problem can’t always be pinpointed, if you’re constantly battling with the oily forehead, nose and chin associated with a troublesome T-zone, it might be a good idea to look at your moisturiser. It can be tempting to skip this product altogether but deny your skin moisture and it will overcompensate on sebum production so look instead for a product that delivers extra moisture to those areas requiring it while keeping oily areas shine-free and under control. The result will be longer lasting makeup, skin less prone to blemishes and a healthy glowing complexion.
