I’m a compulsive ‘plumper’. If there’s a cushion or pillow within a thirty mile radius I will plump it. If I can turn one job in to two then I will. Yes I’m a multi tasker through and through. And I don’t do things by halves. Plumped cushions, multi tasking, chores done thoroughly... All give the budding homemaker an enormous sense of satisfaction.

My latest multi-task is timely: whilst packing to go on holiday use it as an opportunity to completely clear out your wardrobe (in time for the new Autumn / Winter season soon after your return).

Genius eh?

Pile clothes to take away with you, clothes to go, clothes to stay that won’t be travelling with you, clothes that need mending (you know a button here, a ripped seam there) and clothes that need dry cleaning or washing before the new season (there will be several).

Top tip: no domestic goddess should be without an array of Laundress cleaning products. A luxury fabric care and speciality detergent line that will take the chore out of laundry and cut down the dry cleaning bill (there’s a cashmere shampoo).

Take a bi-annual trip the The Holding Company and invest in new coat hangers, shoe cubbys, underbed drawer organisers or baskets (a godsend if you’re short on space).

Once you’ve sampled the satisfaction of all this, you’ll be itching to start on the bathroom...

And if you have ultra persuasive powers then you’ll persuade your other half to do the same...
