Stella & Dot is the home-based jewellery business everybody’s talking about. Whether you’re looking to achieve a six-figure salary, or earn some extra spending money, the opportunities for Stella & Dot Stylists are endless...
The Story so Far:
The Stella & Dot business began when mother of two, Jessica Herrin, had a vision to create a company that would help today’s busy woman achieve a balanced life by building their careers from home.
Stylists (independent business owners) sell Stella & Dot jewellery to customers at gatherings known as Trunk Shows
, at home, on the go, and online with their own dedicated website. This social selling platform allows women a friendly, personalised shopping experience.
In 2011, Stella & Dot expanded beyond North America, launching globally in the UK (Germany and France are soon to follow); there are now 1300 Stylists in Great Britain. The business was recently named as one of Inc. 500’s Fastest Growing Companies worldwide.
The award-winning jewellery line
is the vision of a New York-based design team. There’s a strong emphasis on statement pieces that can be worn in multiple ways; Two collections are launched each year (spring and autumn), plus two smaller capsule ranges.
Stella & Dot’s signature is quality and a reasonable price point: Half the collection is under £40, with prices peaking at £180. The handbag range
, already a huge success in the US, has recently been introduced to UK shoppers. How it Works:
Sign up for £169
and, instantly, you have a business in a box. The Starter Kits feature everything you need to get your enterprise off the ground, including brochures, mini look books, online training and your own personal website where customers can order from you. After your initial outlay, you will also receive £300 in jewellery credit to kick start your sales.
Once you’ve joined, you can access the Stella & Dot University which teaches you how to run and organise a Trunk Show, how to sell jewellery and how to display items appealingly – all with a mix of in-house and online training. Stella & Dot Trunk Shows are like a pop-up shop in your living room. They can be held absolutely anywhere as a coffee morning, hen party or drinks do, and usually last an average of two hours. There is no minimum or maximum number of Trunk Shows you can hold per week – how many you choose to organise is entirely up to you.
Stella & Dot suggest hosting six trunk shows in the first five weeks, within four different social circles, such as a friend, neighbour, colleague and family member, thereby maximising your marketing potential. In your first 60 days as a Stylist, you can earn £100 in free product each time you hold two eligible Trunk Shows.
Asking a friend to ‘host’ a Trunk Show (usually at their house) is beneficial to both parties: When somebody ‘hosts’ a Trunk Show, they’ll instantly earn Style Rewards. Hostesses are given great incentives and are allowed to shop at 40% off and receive an exclusive hostess gift.
It’s easy to recoup your initial £169 outlay by hitting sales of £670. The quickest way to grow your income is by building a team of Stylists, which means becoming their mentor – earning coaching commissions and a percentage of the income on the jewellery that they sell.
