Fun & Festivity…

When my American sister-in-law, who recently moved here from across the pond, said she was looking forward to making her eldest’s first Halloween in the UK a special occasion I have to confess I was a little concerned.

Concerned because we’re not all that huge on it over here. Granted we’re getting better – I almost tripped over a row of Pumpkins in Waitrose yesterday but we’re a long way behind our American friends where anyone and everyone gets in the spirit.

Now whilst the cynics amongst us might think it’s just yet another way for retailers to target the consumer (which no one’s denying it is), if it gives us the chance to spoil the little ones in our lives then I’m all for it.

So prize them away from television and computer games and treat them to some Halloween fun and festivity...

And for those of us that aren't so little, it's the perfect excuse to act it.

Fortnums has come up trumps with an array of goodies from witches fingers and pumpkin jellies to devil lollies and halloween gingerbread biscuits. It all sounds pretty tasty...
