Make time for tea...
Published on Wednesday 7th March 2007
Cucumber sandwiches without the crusts, hot cross buns, cup cakes, scones & jam and earl grey all play a part in the fine English tradition of afternoon tea. Now you might think taking tea is a thing that your grandparents used to do but tea itself is as popular as ever(with a whole host of online tea suppliers cropping up) and tea at the Ritz, where you're served the most delicious array of goodies whilst a harpist plays in the background, is one of the most enjoyable ways to pass an afternoon (needless to say you need to book well in advance).
And if you can’t face hosting a dinner party or doing Sunday lunch for twelve this weekend, then why not catch up with friends and family over tea. It’s short, sweet and more importantly, it’s easy to prepare.
Just remember that whilst it’s fine to sit round the kitchen table and natter, presentation is everything and a lovely teapot with matching cups, saucers and plates can make all the difference.
Burleigh Pottery is just the store for heavenly teaware and with Mother’s Day looming it’s well worth a visit. It combines its rich archives and unique traditional decorating skills with an up-to-date country living look. Here are just a few of their divine ranges:
