Sale fever is in full flow; it seems to get earlier every season (not that we’re complaining). With difficult economic times a certainty for the months ahead, savvy sale time shopping makes even more sense (not that we need any encouragement).

And if your budget doesn’t usually stretch to high end then with up to 50% OFF in many places, now’s the perfect time to get a slice of the action.

Here are our top tips for shopping the sales:

Steer clear of instantly recognisable prints

Avoid this seasons signature styles (ie jumpsuits) that you're unlikely to wear again, stick instead to more classic pieces

Spring/Summer collections always feature knitwear; stock up on pieces that you can layer throughout Autumn and beyond

Sale time is THE time to purchase bags, pumps and stilettos that you’ll reach for all year round

Look for navy blue and grey, cocktail dresses (in particular flapper), snake and croc, lace and skinny jeans that are all here to stay for Autumn / Winter
