Spend or Splurge: The Black Debate…
Published on Wednesday 24th October 2007

When winter collections hit the runways, however unexpected they may or may not be you can always rest assured that they’ll be awash with black. And whilst editors and experts might be touting navy or grey as the new black, or even proclaiming that black is back, it has never really been or never really will be anything but prevalent.

The beauty of black is that it’s often not all that memorable, that’s not to say there aren’t some stunning statement black pieces, but if you’re on a budget then black is a colour you can save on.

That said, there are two arguments; spend on staple black pieces that’ll last for seasons, mixing and matching with cheaper fashion led pieces that’ll be out of date the next or, save on black (savvy shoppers can buy cheap without it looking it) and splash out on some show stopping numbers that you’ll want everyone to notice you in...

If you motion the latter then head to firm favourite Marks & Spencer where both the Limited Collection and their Per Una Eveningwear collections are offering black buys that look the biz.
