Wedding Accessories Special
If you’re a bride-to-be in need of a bit of a steer on the accessories front then our wedding accessories special is here to help. We know how important they are – how – like with any outfit – they can make or break it and how you just can’t afford to get it wrong. Just remember that less is so often more and you’ll be less likely to get it wrong.
Once you’ve found your dress it’s essential to get moving on the wedding shoe front because you’ll need to take them to fittings to ensure the length of your dress is right (if in doubt go longer – there’s nothing worse than a wedding dress swinging above ground level so just be prepared for it to get dirty).
If you’re on a budget then Dune and LK Bennett are ones to visit but if you can splash out on your wedding shoes then do – yes you mightn’t get the best value for money if you work it out per wear(!) but you’ll only ever buy one pair (you hope) so make the most of it.
Backless wedding shoes are not to be recommended. Opt instead for a well fitted sling back or court. And if you’re concerned about the prospect of an eight hour hour day or tripping up the aisle then Emma Hope, Emmy and Jimmy Choo all do sensibly heighted heels.
You’ll need a bag at hand on your wedding day equipped with lipgloss, rescue remedy, tissues and any other essentials – leave it in the wedding car when you get to the church then put a trust worthy bridesmaid in sole charge. A clutch or small evening number is your best bet when it comes to your wedding bag.
On the jewellery front make the decision early as to whether you’re doing a tiara or not – it should dictate the rest of your jewellery choices. If you are going for a tiara then there’s an array of crystal and pearl tiaras to choose from that’ll make you feel nothing short of a princess on your big day.
If there’s a lot going on on the dress front then our advice would be no necklace or, just something very simple; under no circumstances is statement earrings and a statement necklace a good idea. Statement earrings look fabulous with hair loosely pinned or half up and a bare décolletage.
He might have just bought you a ring and be about to take you on the trip of a lifetime but if you’re doing wedding presents for each other too then now might be the time to start dropping hints about what you might like... a diamond necklace, tennis bracelet or drop earrings make the perfect pressie to open on your wedding morning...
And if your something blue is keeping you awake at night then a sapphire somewhere might be just the answer. Our bridal jewellery selections have plenty thrown in the mix...
Wedding day hair is all too easy to get wrong. Put all ideas of ‘sterotypical’ wedding hair styles as far out of your mind as possible and go for a look that is natural to you.
If, you scrape your hair back on a daily basis then this may well work but if you don’t then chances are it’ll look too harsh. A low chignon or a half up do are pretty failsafe. Our range of wedding hairpins, haircombs and hairbands are a) functional and will b) form the perfect finishing touches.
Also in our wedding accessories special you’ll find a range of other accessories that includes everything from ivory wedding umbrellas (an absolute must for any bride tying the knot in this country – you wouldn’t want to be papped with your father’s grotty golf umbrella), shrugs and wraps (because you’ll want something to cover your shoulders if there’s a chill in the air) to wedding garters and a beautiful range of bridal brooches – but of course only if your outfit allows.
