The New Setting Spray That Promises To Lock Your Make-Up In Place

The New Setting Spray That Promises To Lock Your Make-Up In Place

When it comes to long-lasting formulations and multi-tasking products with added skincare benefits, Illamasqua is hard to beat. Throw in a pandemic and having to wear a facemask, and it’s only fitting, therefore, that the brand has added a hard-working setting spray to its range. The light-as-air mist helps to set make-up in place for hours, lending a thin veil of glossy hydration, as well as some serious staying power. Plus, it’s fragrance and alcohol-free – making it suitable for all skin types. Here’s what else you need to know, along with some advice on how to get the most out of it…

CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ILLAMASQUA

The Hype:

Illamasqua makes some of the most long-wearing formulas on the market. So, it was only a matter of time before it added a setting spray to its iconic line-up. Having been in the works for some time, it’s finally launched, we expect it to fly off the shelves. Formulated with a non-sticky finish, it uses film formers to set make-up firmly in place for hours – even in extreme weather temperatures (think hot and cold climates) to prevent any creasing or sliding. The best bit? It does all of this with a luminous finish that lasts – expect it to catch the light but without ever looking greasy or shiny. Available in both 100ml and a handy 30ml travel-size (landing at the end of April ready for mini breaks), it’s great for chucking in your bag when you’re on-the-go.

The Benefits:

More than your average setting spray, this one is brimming with added skincare benefits, too. Pea peptides and amino acids work to hydrate the skin, which not only lends your complexion a glossy sheen, it also prevents that dry, tight feeling often associated with other setting sprays. Even so, the formula still dries down to ensure a budge-proof finish that’s the ideal match for a facial covering. What’s more, it’s fragrance and alcohol-free, so you don’t have to worry about it causing any irritation. Mist it on throughout the day to feel a bit more refreshed, too – think of it as a quick drink for your complexion.

How To Use It:

It may seem obvious, but there is a way to apply a setting spray correctly to yield the best results. Illamasqua’s Global Director of Artristry, Pablo Rodriguez explains: “Illamasqua’s new Hydra Setting Spray dries quick, but equally doesn’t feel strong or stiff on the skin. It has a hydrating feel to it, while make-up doesn’t move or fade. Apply a couple of spritzes after you’ve finished applying your make-up. Wait a few seconds until it’s completely dry, then go in with another two spritzes. This will set everything in place for longer-lasting results.” He also recommends focusing it on the high points of your face – like your cheekbones – for extra gloss and sheen. Keep it roughly ten inches away from your face as you spray, too, as this will prevent it dripping or sliding down the skin.

The Key Benefits & Claims Recapped:

  • Sets make-up and offers serious staying power – no matter the weather

  • Prevents any slipping or transference of make-up

  • Suitable for sensitive skin

  • Hydrating, with amino acids and pea peptides

  • Non-sticky and fast-drying

  • Glow-giving

The 3 Ways To Keep Make-Up In Place For Longer…

1

Start With Primer

A primer is still considered one of the best ways to prep your skin and ensure your make-up goes the distance. Illamasqua’s version is a pro make-up artist staple, thanks to added vitamin C, B3 and microalgae which work together to even out tone and boost moisture. The gel texture sinks in quickly, too, so products that follow never pill.

2

Follow-Up With Foundation Or Concealer

Either use a brush or your fingers to work your foundation or concealer into areas that need it most – think under the eyes, and around the nose and cheeks. You’ll find the primer will help your base make-up to adhere better, with zero flaking, sliding or caking of your base make-up.

Finish With A Spray

Let your make-up settle for five-to-ten minutes, then mist on a setting spray as your final step. This will help lock everything down for a budge-proof finish. Focus on the areas of your skin that are most prone to oiliness or grease – like your T-zone and cheeks. Using Illamasqua’s latest launch, you’ll be able to keep everything in place, without sacrificing that glow we all crave.
