Sharmadean Reid Shares Her Little Black Book

Beauty entrepreneur Sharmadean Reid MBE needs little introduction. As the founder and CEO of both WAH Nails and the new app-based booking platform Beautystack, it made sense for her to take part in the creation of #BringBeautyBack campaign in response to the government’s reopening plan. Regularly seeking out the best beauticians and treatments for her network, what she doesn’t know about beauty isn’t worth knowing. Here, we take a peek inside her little black book…

For Skincare Essentials…

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum has changed the game for my complexion. It works to brighten and smooth texture and is one of the best vitamin C products I’ve ever tried. I’m never without my Biologique Recherché Lotion P50 either. It completely resurfaces your skin, and these two products used in combination leave my skin feeling and looking amazing.

For Haircuts & Styling…

I go to different pros in the industry for various treatments. For a blow-dry and extensions, I see Akisha Dobson at Bleach in Brixton. For braids, I swear by Lydia Braids on Beautystack because she is incredibly fast. Then, for deep conditioning treatments and a head massage like no other, I go to Charlotte Mensah in Portobello.

For Repeat Beauty Buys…

I have three make-up essentials I buy on repeat. First, Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof Liner in Black, second, Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Brow Gel and finally, her cult Pillow Talk Lipstick in Medium – I dab a little onto my cheeks, too.

For Beauty Treatments…

I find the best treatments through my network. I’ve been in beauty for over a decade now, and I’m lucky enough to have a brilliant community who have similar tastes and style, and love sharing new treatments. My goal is to turn BeautyStack into the world's coolest salon. It’s a new way to book beauty, and the aim is to go from inspiration to appointment in just a few clicks. The app shortens the process we’re used to – you find a look you like, discover who created it and then book directly via their salon to achieve the same thing. A personal favourite of mine is KaddyFromTheWest for all things nails – she has incredible designs.

For A Silky Base…

Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in 390 is my favourite base. I use it as a tinted cream by mixing it with my moisturiser, then rubbing it in all over my face for a thorough, even blend.

For Hair Care…

There are three buys I can never choose between. Charlotte Mensah’s Manketti Hair Oil is a must-have, as is the Bleach Beer Shampoo and Conditioner, which strengthens hair and reduces breakage. Finally, I love the Afrochenix Hair Light Moisturiser for extra nourishment.

For Great Brows…

My brows are tattooed every 18 months by Rachel Pitman. If you’re considering this kind of treatment but want natural-looking results, I can’t recommend her enough – she’s one of the best in the business.

For A Speedy Glow…

Glossier Future Dew is the product I use for a speedy, dewy glow – either on its own, or with other make-up. You only need a small amount to give skin a nice radiance.

For Fragrance…

Le Labo’s Poivre 23* is my number one. It’s the London exclusive, so it’s only available annually, but I always snap it up – it reminds me of an Italian holiday.

*Le Labo Poivre 23 Will Be Available From 1st September 2020.

For Unwinding…

Sleeping, reading and walking in the woods is how I like to unwind. Meditation and hydration are essential for me too – I swear by both for their calming and anti-ageing benefits.
